Flower Power
“Flower Power” is a look at what makes common local wildflowers more than just pretty. Throughout time, humans have had an intimate relationship with plants, as food, as medicine, and as the stuff of legends, spiritual beliefs, and superstition. This program’s focus won’t be on wildflower ID as much as fun and fascinating floral facts (and fiction!)
Anna Marie Manowarda has worked in the field of environmental education in a variety of settings, including Rogers Environmental Education Center, the Ashokan Field Campus, and New York City Parks; the majority of her career was as Director of Nature Interpretation at Finch Hollow Nature Center (Broome County Dept of Parks and Recreation), where the mission was to “increase awareness and appreciation of the natural world within Broome County”.
