Birds and Beers is a social gathering of birders of all abilities to get away from our computers and meet face to face. In conjunction with the Town of Fenton Earth Day Celebration, we will host a bird song walk and a moth walk on APRIL 27 at CHENANGO VALLEY STATE PARK - 153 State Park Rd, Chenango Forks. Join CCE Broome and the Naturalists' Club of Broome County to partake in a Moth Night to learn about our local moths and butterflies, as well as what to look for when searching for them and how to attract different species to your own outdoor spaces. We need your help! This is the last year of the New York Breeding Bird Atlas and the Apalachin block is under represented in the dataset. So the Waterman Center and the Naturalists’ Club of Broome County decided to host a Birding Blitz at the Waterman Conservation Education Center in Apalachin! Enjoy a short talk about the basics of birdwatching, including basic bird biology, identification tips, binoculars, field guides, and local birds.
